What would you offer......
I think this will be okay to post here instead of the for sale thread, since I'm just asking your opinion if I'm just flat out crazy.
Okay I'm trying to sell a car at the moment. It's a 1998 camaro vert 3.8 with cloth interior everything stock minus head unit and speakers. It has just over 125,000 miles on the clock.
The good: has new plugs/wires less then 500 on both. New rack an pinion, upper and lower control arms as well as ball joints, tie rods with tie rod ends. Newer top off of an 02 ss. Tires have about 8000 miles on them.
The bad:
It needs new paint all around to get rid of front bumper flaking and the two tone paint the previous owner had painted on so it is primarily red with black upper section.
It needs new cup-holder down by the e brake.
And finally it needs a new latch for the deck lid due to it not unlaching I have to use the key.
I have offered to fix the problems before title transfer if my asking price is agreed on.
I'm asking $3800 OBO. It is listed under kbb value which is $4200 in fair condition.
Please give me your opinion if I'm crazy for asking so much. I'm sure there are better deals out there but am I being reasonable?

I'm not in a big rush this is just the old beater we have had since 09 and just running out of room in the drive and garage. We also have my trans am, z28(you can see in pic) and trailblazer ss. There is only two of us to drive all 4 cars so just clearing out inventory. Lol

If the whole car does need to be painted the cost from most shops will be more than the cars value. I could see it selling for 2500-3k

Thanks for the reply zinergy. If not sold ill be painting the car myself after materials and parts I was looking at around 1k. I have plenty of experience with auto body and have the ability to use a spray booth. I'm hoping to cut done on cost this way. Hell who knows might keep it after its done and just do a supercharge build with it.

Doing it yourself def saves money. The most expensive part of painting a car is the labor for prep work so that is where most of them oney goes.

Do the prep and bring it to maaco for a $300 paint job then sell it. The better it looks the better chance you'll get your asking price or more. I sold a 89 IROC for 4k so there's people out there that will buy it.

im sure it would sell for 3500 and a $300 paint job would sell it faster

You should hold out for some Klondikes

That's fine I can take the 400 and buy a pan hard bar and still have some left over for the Klondike bar and some cookies and milk. Then I get everything I ever wanted pan hard, torq arm, Klondike, and cookies.

Sounds good. I will send the money via certified check. I am going to make out the check for 5000$ extra, and you can just send me back the difference in cash, and I will have my shipping company come pick up the car.
