What do you do if you lose your car title??

I got a funny feeling my wife "Accidently" threw it out as paperwork just laying around, how do I go about getting a new title? I finally own the damn thing and it's missing.

Go to the local tax office and they will issue you a new one for a few bucks. You will need the VIN number and proof of insurance. Oh and it will not be blue it will be brown.

It may be different in another state, but in illinois all I had to do was fill out a form at the DMV for lost or duplicate title. And of corse...pay a fee.

It should be no biggie if you have your last tag recipt .... Still going to be a while before it comes back...Maybe a month or 2 ......
