what antivirus/firewall do you use?
I had Mcafee through AOL because it was free but that stuff is terrible. It slowed the computer down so much it was rediculous. I only used it because it was free with AOL. I use AOL just because I've had it forever and it's what I'm used to.
I got rid of all the Mcafee junk and the computer is running normal again. So now I need to get a good av and firewall. I'm not looking for free stuff. I'd be more than happy to pay for something if it's good. Mcafee never found any problems anyhow. I could run their spyware and it would show clean then run spybot and find several things that needed to come off. I was thinking about giving Trend Micro a shot. Anyone use that?

Your confused if you think the "free stuff" isnt a full operational package. The "free stuff" often outperforms Norton and McAfee in various test.....
AVG is a great anti virus and fully operational...auto updates and scheduled scans etc. Zone Alarm is a great firewall.....both free. This is my signature. It is mine. Nobody else has one like it.

I guess the point was I wasn't ruling out companies that don't have shareware. Actually, I think I may have used AVG several years ago. McAfee was nothing but trouble. Not impressed. I'll d/l AVG and give it a shot. Can you send or post me a link to your site Sarge? I had it at one time and evidently didn't save it.

Trend Micro and Spy sweeper was the shit in 2006, Trend Micro 07 fucked my pc up bad, Norton sucks, Avg never picked up anything, then I would run TM and it would find all kinds of stuff. No I'm using Zone Alarm but can't say much for it. The new 2007 Webroot spysweeper comes with a virus scan, gonna get it soon to see what it does.
