1997 Grand Cherokee- 1999 Firebird.
Well, my Firebird got flooded last night. Left the tops off and it stormed.
It's pretty nasty. There is water standing in the floorboards. The front seats are still wet but seem to be drying. The back seats are soaked. The center console and cup holders are full of water. Everything seems to be working except the drivers side window. I called my insurance company and filed a claim but I'm not sure if they'll do anything. I'm mostly worried about rot and mildew. Anyone have this happen before? What should I expect from my insurance company? They told me to wet-vac it and I did but it's still really bad. What a stupid fucking mistake

you'll be fine, how do i know, did it a few times. The key is to get it dry as fast as possiable. Wet vac the whole thing, get lots of towels and wipe everything down. Get your wife's hair dryer and spend the whole next day drying it out. Do you have cloth or leather interior. Leather cleans up real nice with leather cleaner/conditioner(probably needs it anyway). For cloth i would put a fresh towel down on it then sit on it to soak up as much as you can then blowdry it. For the carpet, wet vac, dry with a towel then go and get some good carpet cleaner(with a mold killing agent) and scrub away, You could also just use some anti bacterial dawn soap... What ever you do dont wait or it will stink and never go away..

if insurance company doesnt do anything about it your going to have to strip the interior out. A buddy left t-tops off his 95 t/a and did same thing, he thought he had it dried out til one day the car wouldnt start. Turned out theres a ground for the fuel pump under drivers seat area and it had corroded til it fell apart......leading to no fuel pump. Not a fun deal either way

whats ur insurance plan? if you have completely full coverage including "comp and collision" (it might be a different package, i forgot the name), it should cover it.
cuz i think the comprehensive is for vandalism, weather damage, etc...
if you dont have full coverage and only got liability they wont do anything for you
sorry to hear that man... my thirdgen's ttops leaked so bad that i couldnt park it outside cuz they were as good as off so i kinda know the feelin

not worth dealing with insurance company it will only hurt you in the long run. Just take out seats console and carpet. its not that hard. Then dry and clean them.

I did it a few times, just dry it out fast, no mildew issues. Yeah I had the water up to the sills, cup holder turned birdbath.

Sebring Silver- 2002 Camaro SS
Same thing happened to me back in 2002, but on a then late model Mustang convertible. Left the top down during a minor hail storm. No hail damage, but melting hail stones all over the place. Got a hold of as many towels as possible and soaked up all the water-mainly in the carpet as the seats were leather. Then I left the car running for about 2 days straight with the heater on full blast (in the middle of August). This was not my personal vehicle, but an employer owned "spare" vehicle. I'm not so sure I'd let my own vehicle idle for 2 days straight. Bottom line-everything dried out and the car was still running well over a year later.
