want to burn video camera tapes to DVD what software to get?

I have a helmet cam i use when riding my dirt bike and quad. The camera records them onto tapes but i would like to convert these to DVD's. Does anyone have a program they recommend for this? i would also like to be able to edit the video. Not sure what program will work well for this or if i need multiple things. Thanks for any help.

    I use Adobe Premiere Pro.

But I think windows has movie maker, although I am not sure of the options.
Newer burning softwares should be able to burn DVD's.

What kind of tapes?? I use mini-DV and a firewire to get them on my PC.

Do you have a way to connect the camera to the PC?
Firewire works much better than USB.
    Not sure about USB 2.0.

Might come off the camera choppy.
It happened to me, so I went out and invested in a PCI firewire card and cable. Much better.

    Pro will burn to DVD....
Not sure about Movie Maker, but you can check it out as it comes with windows.

    Firewire cable

    Firewire PCI card

I am sure there are cheaper options as well.

Windows movie maker will burn them to a DVD in MPG Format, not like a regular DVD, if you are wanting to edit the video with dvd quaility and menu's you'll need to use Adobe, if you cannot afford adobe, Pinnacle Systems has Studio 11 out, and i found that program to be very user friendly (adobe premiere pro will blow Pinnacle out of the water, just harder to use)
