Volkswagen and Sarge
Well....For her 16th birthday I took my lil daughter to the Pontiac dealer and said anything on the lot is hers. She picked out a new G6 GT loaded. So 19 months later she wants a 2009 VW Jetta loaded. So she hauls my big ass to the VW dealer yesterday. Not a bad car frankly. So before I write these goose steeping bitches a check...anybody got anything bad they know about these things> 2009 VW Jetta SEL

They are well built little cars from everything I have ever read or heard about them.

I think their new commericals are pretty good.
I remember an old one where a NC sheriff runs down some kind of hot rod in a little VW Rabbit? and says:
"You better watch yo step in dis part o' North Carolina, boy".

Possible electrical problems.
If it is a manual the clutch is a piece of crap.
A kid I work with had his explode at 20,000 miles. The dealer told him the clutch didn't count when it came to the warranty.

Are you against the idea of a diesel? The TDI gets 10+ more MPG and is about a grand cheaper.

I have one and love it, put 25,000 miles on it in the first six months I owned it. Never had a real problem with it. I got the extended warranty and while on site one day I bent the shit out of a wheel, the dealership replaced it under warranty, also the wife ran a tire flat and ruined it, covered it under warranty. the dealer has been pretty good to us, and it's been a great car. The next new car we buy will be a Passat.
