Valentine 1?

Simple, does anyone have the Valentine 1, bc i want a better radar detector . I have the bo bo 40 buck walmart 1 from cobra, and it is crap. I was looking at the escort 9500i also, wonder which is better. Also does anyone have any pics of any radar detectors or gps units in there f- body cars. Just too see there setup. Thaks

Radar detectors are crap. By the time the radar has hit you it's too late. And laser which quite a few cops use will murder a detector. Only way a detector will work is if the cop is hitting cars around you and it picks it up before he hits you. This is coming from a guy that has had radar training. Radar usually will reflect the biggest or most dense object. If your running next to a semi, 9 out of 10 the semi will get hit first. Not exact science but pretty close.

Thats just the thing, if what your saying is true, then why buy one. You buy them not to get nailed for speeding and to make a police officer known to you so you don't do something dumb. And we have all been 16, your going to do stupid shit and no one wants to see someone get killed or wreck a perfectly nice car. Its nothing personal, its just at 16, kids think they are imortal and untouchable. Throw a crazy car in the mix and bam, anything can happen. But I would save your money for mods or something else that brings happiness, just my .02

Well i have already gotten a ticket for 200 bucks, about 10 months ago. I leaned my lesson, yes everyone from 16 year olds to 60 year olds will have that moment of fun and flor it. But lets turn this topic around and start over from my first question. Thanks

well what the posts above are saying, is true and untrue...yes it will most likely be to late for YOU(not ppl around you) to be do anything if your hit with the radar or laser....But my v1 has saved me so many times on the highway and backroads due to the fact that most highway pigs leave their scanners on all the time...and my detectors picks them up way before they even come close to me...

there full of shit bro.....my 100 dollar cobra has saved me NUMEROUS times....gives me tons of warning with K and KA bands.....ppl that tell u there useless have no clue what there talking about.....when the pigs are using laser it LIKELY will not save u but it HAS saved me vs laser one time so far and cops around my area hardly ever use laser...to lazy.....have to point and shoot every car that comes by and hit the plate....as for which to recommend ive seen many articles on both the escort and the V1...both are the best of the best radar detectors and i couldnt go wrong with either...the v1 just tells u which direction the cop is shooting u from which is definitly a nice feature

Yeah, I only went through 40 hrs of training in Savannah GA to use Radar and don't have a clue to what works. They might save you, they might not, not worth the money and most will agree. Never saved anyone on Hunter Army Airfield, 3ID against me. But your all grown people and spend your money on whatever floats your boat.

And just a little FYI for everyone. I don't really know if this pertains to lasers (never used one)

A: Radar needs to have the calibration checked before using (use tuning forks) most of the time its a 35mph and 65mph tuning forks

B: Radar usually gets calibrated once or maybe twice a year by a state certified person.

C: Radar in heavy rain is worthless

D: Radar with the A/C or heater on (window defrost) can get messed up.

E: Radaring around sharp corners is frowned upon.

F: Radaring by bridges is frowned upon.

Could keep going but with the units we trained on and were in our patrol cars all of the above worked. Granted that was 4 years ago. But I need to get ready for work.

im going by REAL world experience with my radar detector not your 40 hrs of " training " i know where the cops are before i see them and they see me nearly every single day because of that thing...id never speed w/o it.....not that i speed often anymore anyways.....id also like to comment on your " not worth the money" a 21 or over ticket in nys will generaly run u 150 bucks or better, put 6 points on your license AND youll pay a 100 dollar a year fee each year for 3 yrs ...not including what your insurance does to u that ONE single ticket that a 300 dollar radar detector could of prevented will cost u a minium of 450 bucks.......ill use mine.....u enjoy driving around naked

If you get pulled over with a radar detector for speeding 9.9 out of 10 will give you a ticket based on having one. If you don't have one you stand alot better chance of getting out of one or getting a warning, thats real world experience. And in alot of states it is illegal to have one period. I will drive naked, never got a ticket once in my Maro, thats why we have eyes, to see cops, and I don't have a problem seeing them. Where you guys live it might be different but that sucks to be you. And I think I will take my training over your driving. I know more about radar then half the people on this site, thats prolly another reason I don't get tickets. Clean driving record here

i have had a cobra since i was 16 when i had a grand am it saved me tons of times and now i am going to get the new passport my friend has one in 98 vette and i need one in my 99z.... its worth it..

if u get pulled over 9 times out of 10 EVERYONE gets a ticket around here now....things are quickly changing and its bullshit..used to be just the state troopers that gave everyone tickets.....now the towns arnt giving anyone any slack either.....havnt had a speeding ticket here in 6 or 7 yrs...before i had my detector ....and ive been let off since WITH the detector...i think the biggest difference with a cop is all in how u treat them and being completely honest with no bullshit

That blows, cops need to give some people slack. I agree, if you treat a cop like gold you have a much better chance of getting off compared to an attitude.
