Trying to sell a motor. How much is it worth?

If this is the wrong section, I am sorry. I couldn't find a "how much is it worth section". I know they have one on Tech, but I don't post very often over there, and I know you guys at least see me on the boards here.

Motor is:

350 TPI from '89 IROC-Z
85k miles
Ran good
Motor, intake, wiring harness, and computer.
May need a new computer. He got a price on a re-man and it was about $60.

The motor is a friend of mines, and I'm not trying to sell it to any of you guys, if you're thinking I'm trying to scam you.

The car ran great. I've driven in it many times, and for as old as it was, it hauled ass. I drove it once, and was very surprised at how much "get up" it had. Everything is stock.

We are in the process of tearing out the motor to prep the car for paint, and install the new engine.

He wants to get rid of it quick, but still get a decent buck for it.

Any ideas? Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I miss my '89 so much. I'm not sure how much it's worth. But I know that there are some people out there that would pay A LOT for one.

I'd say around $500-600 with everything. If someone is swapping this TPI for their old TBI motor they may ask for the fuel pump as well (if you don't need it)

Have him post the motor on thirdgen.org with pics in the "for sale" section at the bottom of the page.

Also, try MI fbody website......

I believe he did make a post on MI fbody. Also, he sent me a link to hawksthirdgen, and in their for sale section, they had some with between 100k-160k for $1,200. His has 85k on it.

Yeah it's going to be in the 1000s. Or more.

You sure? That seems a bit pricey for a 20 year old motor. Well, to me anyway.

I'm not doubting you, by any means. But, I'd also like a few opinions from some of the older members that have probably dealt with these cars a little more, you know? I'm sure you've dealt with them too, previously owning one and all.

True, but I'm sure there's someone out there restoring an IROC that's looking for a TPI 350.

Just go to thirdgen.org and do a search. Personally anything over $800 is going to be a hard sell in this economic climate. If you want a quick sell $5-600 should get it done.

Post on thridgen.org and see what offers you get.......
