Trying to get out of my apt lease early...

I have not spoken to them yet. I first need to pick out my new apt. I am narrowing it down right now then flying back down (I'm moving to FL) to check the few I narrow it down to & pick one.

My lease says that I must give 60 days notice and vacating prior to the 10th month of the lease (which I would be if I left in December as planned and I would not be giving 60 days notice.) I would be responsible for any lost rent & re-rental charges.

I'm pretty they'd have no problem filling my apt as this is the best complex in this town, but I obviously can't know that for sure.

I'm obviously going to talk to them to see if we can work something about. I'm hoping that the worst case I can get them to agree to is just keep my security deposit.

But before I talk to them does anyone have any advice/suggestions for me?

not much you can really do once you sign the lease. Depending on the type of management company you should just contact them, let them know you plan on vacating in writing and the day you plan on leaving. Let them tell you what your penalties / options are and then make your decision.

Don't offer them more then what they may ask or require of you. Just tell them you understand it's prior to the 10 months, but if they can find someone early for your unit they may be willing to over look it and give you back your deposit as well.

Do not let them force you to pay off the remaining months. I was able to get off with just a months rent and letting my 200 dollar deposit go.

If they act like jerks just keep hassling them, or be the loud nieghbor until they ask you to leave.

You can claim that it is not a safe place for you to live. You can say that you were followed home after a road rage incident and have been threatened. You can say that your car has been damaged in the lots there and you think you are being targeted, etc. That works.
