trying to create a new car club and needing some advice

i have been contemplating starting up a car club but im not too sure of what name i should choose

a few rules i have thought of are:

must have between 6-8 cylinders only

must have tasteful mods done (no stick on bs, and no stock rides)

would like to have a variation between cars and trucks and what not
an obvious is that you must have general knowledge about cars

would perfer a good amount of women in the group to even out the population (lets face it women that know stuff about cars are HOTT in my book)

what do you all think? and i know that there are numerous car clubs around that i am more then welcome to join but some of there members or policies just arent for me lol

do you have a lot of friends with above average vehicles? if so, id start there. find out where the local meets are happening and see if there are any "unaffiliateds" hangin out there...know exactly what you want in your group, yet dont be too predjudice against certain types of cars. some friends and myself tried this a couple of years ago...but we spent so much time tryin to decide what we alll wanted in our group that nothing happened and we dont even really hang out anymore...

yeah i have a pretty good ieda of what i want in the club and i have quite a few friends that are wanting to help create one too and we all have fairly modded vehicles but it also just gives us a chance to meet and hang out all the time and meet new people

I would say even some very quick 4 cylinders to that is tastefully done and not riced out. Like the sti's the wrx mr's and srt-4's and ss cobalts to are very quick cars as well, but their is nothing better than having a big group of fbody's hanging out all the time together!!

im really picky when it comes to 4 cylinder cars but as far as sti's and such they would be welcome anytime because they are bad ass cars but there is a club thats called MBM customs that has a few of them and a shit load of riced out POS cars including a v6 mustang that they all praise but i just dont wanna end up like that club there the laughing stock of all the other ones

and if you own an F-body you are automatically a bad ass lol even if its a v-6 they all earn respect

Yea I know exactly what you mean thats why I said they have to be tastefully done. The ones I listed are the ones I would def allow to hang out since they can put some crazy power down.

Just something to consider: get some legal advice to protect yourself if you are going to run a club that is open to the public. If this is more than just a bunch of friends getting together informally you could be held liable if some knucklehead (usually a 1st timer that you already decided doesn't quite fit in) chooses to do something stupid (usually right after announcing: "hey guys watch this") and either causes damage or gets someone hurt. Sucks but that is the unfortunate reality today, nobody is responsible for their own actions.

    Absolutely agree on this
It only takes one Idiot to ruin it for everyone else.

    As far as Club advice
Don't limit yourself ! We had a good group a few years back with several makes and models. We never singled out anyone or any make, Domestic or Foreign. Although being In Detroit and having Woodward Ave as our playground we don't see too many Imports.
The more groups of cars you bring together the better the conversation and some friendly competition only makes the hobby stronger.

The car club I am a member of has two rules:

    1. Car must be a domestic (GM, Ford, Mopar).

    2. Owner must not be a complete douchbag...car clubs are supposed to be fun to meet up and have a good time "talking car".

Very nice, I like the rules except I would add in a few different models other than the american makes for the simple fact that their are some really badass cars out their other than us

I didn't make the club, I just joined it.

Also, around here, most import guys are assholes and will insult you before they even know your trying to be friendly towards them. As an added bonus, there are really no fast imports, aka: non-ricers, around here (that are street legal).

talked to a few buddies about it last night but were still up in arms about a name and we have decided that one of the main rules that we will have will be that your car will HAVE to be fast if not see ya later

and the only reason i said no ricers is just like ls1camino stated most of them are douche bags. they will talk shit on every car but their own but when you go to shut them up they have nothing but excuses

It helps if everyone likes each other...gives you a reason to actually meet up and have a good time talking cars...if you don't like the people, you'll stop going.
