Traded in my busted ass Dodge Ram
Traded in my 2000 Dodge Ram today because the as mileage was under 10 mpg and it creaked and made all kinds of noises, had a busted axle shaft, broke windshield, and needed new tires and the 35s arent exactly cheap. I wanted something nice, comfortable and economical. I liked the mid 90s rivieras with the supercharger and the Olds Aurora with the Northstar V8. I ended up finding a 97 Aurora in great shape at a local dealership and just made an even trade. it has 120k on it and runs great. I am getting about 21 mpg in the city so far and it is actually pretty powerful and I love the interior. Anyways here are some pics. I know its an old mans car but hell I think it makes a damn nice DD.

Nice clean looking car for the miles. I wish I was smart enough to trade or sell our Dodge Durango -- 13 mpg running locally and it nickels and dimes me every chance it gets.

looks super clean, that seat has some serious aging on it. other than that, what is that motor rated at?

the seat looks better in person, it isnt tore and the leather itnt worn down at all just creased which is better than you can really hope for when someone sits in it for 120k miles.
the motor is rated at 250 hp and like 265 ft/lbs which definately aint better for a 4.0 liter. The way I see it too is hondas use cheap materials but dont break because it doesnt really put much wear on an engine to push a tiny piston up and down so I hope its the same with this northstar engine. They are supposed to be really reliable.
I am fighting a coolant leak right now, cant tell where is come from but I just threw in some bars stop leak for now to see if it helps and if not I guess ill have to get my hands dirty LOL

I couldn't have one though. I'd be looking for some Magnas or FlowMasters and a nice set of TTIIs for it.

Riviera's and Mark VIII's are two very sexy cars. I would have held out for that buick!

Def not my cup of tea. But it is very clean and looks like it be comfy for long road trips.
Olds higher end cars always seem to have had great interiors for comfortable cuisin'..

The buick is a beautiful car but two downsides, supercharged engine with high miles is more likely to fail than a n/a northstar engine and the interiors arent as nice as the aurora in my opinion. Plus side tho is a much sexier exterior and I believe the supercharged 3.8 is a bit quicker

Yeah, I love the way the Riv looks, but the interior is just too wierd for me.
Great find!
That Olds is a great looking car, I always liked those. Looks like a great interior, I bet it's comfy as hell. I like cars like that actually, they're just so smooth to drive, and it's nice to not have to dart around every pothole and manhole cover like you have to in an F-Body.

Aurora has bad head gaskets i think, will idle forever and stay cool but if you try and drive it then it overheats within a couple miles now. Trying to take it back in a few minutes to see what they will do since they obviously sold it to me fucked up. Hopefully because they didnt tell me anything was wrong with it I can do something about it. I read that even when a car is sold as is they are not allowed to withhold information like that.
