Ticket for window tint... fight it?

Day before Thanksgiving. 25 degrees and raining. just left work. cop pulls me over for window tint on my Grand Prix. I also had a brake light out. I bought the car like it was. windows including driver have a light tint on it... (I bought the car at a auction, turns out it was a detectives county car) so He wrote me what I thought through our verbal communication was a fix it ticket for tint and brake light. So I call on ticket and the brake light is a fix it and the tint is like a $200 fine. apparently law states a 4 inch strip at the top, but the whole window was done. not even very dark either.

So ive removed the tint, and fixed the brake light. Now I'm just hoping I can get out of this ticket. Im trying to see if I cant get a prescription for tint... not working so well right now. Otherwise it's gonna be just show up and take my chances. perhaps just claiming i dident even know the window was tinted... I dunno

Any advice?

Fight it..

I would understand if you put the window tint on but you bought the car that way, but the auction house that sold the car to you should be held accountable and mostly because it was a detectives car.

See an attoney and ask him.

you're probably screwed but it might not hurt to fight it and explain all that to the judge and tell him you've already removed it.......he would probably at least reduce it to a lesser fine. At least it's not a moving violation.

Thinking about it , how can the cop prove it. No proof. He did not measure nor take a pic or anything.

If you choose to go to court and make an argument, you should emphasize that the county sold it that way at auction with no warning...illegal tint and all.

Umm... I wouldn't go there, it's a bit dishonest. Stick with what Steve said. The county sold it that way with no warning. You took it off when you found out you had to. Just go with that.
