Things that make you go hmmm.

In the last week or so, I have changed the oil in our Suburban, freed up a frozen toe adjuster on the back and swapped out an inner and outer front tie rod on the wife's Stratus, changed the transmission fluid and filter, an O2 sender, the front differential fluid and transfer case fluid, and replaced all the front and rear driveshaft u-joints on the Durango, and also installed an electric brake controller in the Suburban this evening.

Tonight, I found this on the garage floor next to the driver side lift column. I have not a friggin' clue what it is or where it came from.

It looks like a tension pin that inside a rubber mallet.

When you were working on your cars did you use a rubber or plactic mallet?

Other than that I would'nt know what it is.

The only pin on the lift that I know of is for the lowering handle -- that is intact. I used my dead blow hammer on the Durango to beat the Y-pipe out. However, it is a solid molded hammer with no pieces. There was no oil or fluid on the pin and also no discernible wear marks that might give me a clue.

The roller bearings in a u-joint are hardened steel pins. This is made of brass or something very similar. As stated, it was not oily.

If it was from the diff, I would expect to find it in the drain tub on my oil tank and not the floor.
