System Restore
Ok guys I just got the system restore disk from sony, becasue my comp is acting up. I guess since i broke up with my g/f, it has led to increasing porn time on my comp. Besides my music, videos, files etc... what else would u recomend for me to back up. I have all the drivers, software, anti-virus that came with my laptop but anything in preticular? AND does any1 know how much space HP Tuners takes up of ur hard drive? The comp seemed to run slower a while back when i had it on my hard drive. My friend has a 500GB external hard drive, in which he keeps all his movies, songs, tuning software and everything else, and the reg har drive for school work. Does any1 know where i could get one and how much they cost.

All personal items, pictures, videos, music etc..... Also remember if you've USED Hp tuners to back up your tuned files for refernce. and HP tuners wont take up too much space. how ever if you do a lot of tuning then you need to consider keeping your tuned files on a CD incase the HDD goes bad.

It's just to dam slow! I cant listen to music and check my mail at the same time w/o problems. Also I can only connect to the internet from my house. I cant get wireless signals anywhere else. If u have VISTA, at the bottom right of ur screen where the volume button is, there are 2 little computer monitor icons. Those are the wireless signal icons, and they have a red X on them. I am on the net now, but if i go somewhere like a public library, i cant connect to their system. If i try to, the computer just freezes. Im backing up my files and important things as we speak, so i should be done in another half hour or so. Then i gotta restore it completley and reload everything once im done. I HATE VAIO'S!! My next notebook is def gonna be a macbook pro or air

external HD's are really cheap now, you wont need 500 gigs, if you're one of the 99% of people out there, but u can get a 150gig or so prob for around 100 bucks, just drag and drop all ur movies and shit onto it, keep it all organized and you'll be ready to reset your computer

i don't think that it needs a restore.. have you tried the basic maintenance things? Virus scan, clean the registry, adware scan, spyware scan, defrag the hard drive, delete temp internet files.. I would try that first before I do a system restore..

Just like M-Ten said, try all of those first. also...try going to Safety.Live.Com... click on the full system scan, its free and powered by microsoft, itll let you know if you have any viruses/spyware on your laptop. How much RAM is in the PC and what type of processor is in it? If its 1GB or less of ram, you might need to upgrade, Vista requires a min of 1GB. You can also go to the search menu from the start bar and type in CMD (comand Prompt), there type in chkdsk /f....then y for yes...this checks for any bad sectors on the hdd...if that passes, try cmd then sfc /scannow...this check all of you system files for a corrupt OS. good luck!

Well i did it, and it runs much better now. I was on the line with a sony tech for about 2 hrs lol, but finally we got it all set. My laptop is a sony vaio, its got a 160gb harddrive, 2gb ram, centrino core 2 duo processor, vista etc... I know vista needs a minimum og 1gb, but 2 is required to enhance the features. Its got a lot of power and you can even do video editing with it, plus its got a built in camera and microphone. And its not only me, my friend has vista with a 3GB HD and still has problems. Yeah it blows, but i think the new service pack came out, however it wont benifit me.
