    SUV/Truck

So my fiance and I have found my Volvo to be almost useless when it comes to storage, moving, groceries etc....... It has decent interior room, gets about 22- 24 mpg average city and highway combined, but the trunk height is horrible Trying to get boxes, bags etc is tough. It is roomy BUT not tall enough for most things I have been trying to shove in it. We decided to get another vehicle. Another pick up or an SUV. I am liking the buick rainier, trailblazer SS, or a ford edge.... Gimme some other ideas....

He did come across an 03 Lexus RX300 for cheap

Envoy or TB with the I-6 = Decent gas mileage, lots of room, and smooth ride

I am really partial to them. If I found a foreign one with enough torque on the low end and gas mileage close to that of my volvo I'd go for it. I've driven a bunch at work and it seems the foreign SUVs don't have any low end balls. Also GMs tend to get fair MPGs with their smaller V8s than most of the foreign 6 cyl

I'm likely gonna get an 8 cause we have been doing a ton of trailering lately.... Not sure how well a 6 would do with the load. The dodge has been awesome can't use the pick up for everyday though

The three foreign SUVs I glanced at seemed to have quite a lot of torque (3-400+). I don't know what is a lot for you though. Barring that, why do you need torque with a grocery-getter? If you need to tow, get a truck, if you want to race, get a car.

We currently have a 1999 dodge 1500 ram for most of our towing but it's 2WD with an open rear. We have gotten it stuck in my back yard twice now while trailering our loads of demo crap out of the basement. It's not just for grocery getting it will be put to work also.

Which SUVs are you speaking of?

I'm not totally off the idea of getting a pick up. I would need an extended cab though.

I looked at the specs of recent 4runners, Q7s, and one of the BMW ones.

The Envoys do have a large V8, 4.3l if I remember.

    I was happy with mine.

I towed my TA with the I-6 model for years with no worries. Just changed the tranny fluid/filter every 12-15K. Just make sure you get one with 3.73's or 4.10's so you will have better towing capacity.

My vote is the TBSS, Envoy V8 or Traverse, Acadia.

Our durango has been awesome.....I know I say that in all of these threads but it's true. Dollar for dollar you can't beat it as far as features. We just have the 4.7 in ours instead of the hemi but it tows my 3k pound camper fine. My wife averages ~18 combined with it but on trips we'll see 21-23 on the highway. Tons of space, standard 3rd row, nice stereo, AWD, and ours has been very dependable. She has 120,458 on it( know that because I just changed the oil a few minutes ago) and I've had to do a egr valve and that's it other than maintenance. I'd highly recommend at least test driving one.

When my mom's Rogue (we get 24.5-26 in town with it btw, baby suv, 1500 towing) got rear ended by a hit and run illegal we had an '09 Trailblazer with the inline 6. It was a torquey bitch, decently quick, and sounded cool. It had a voracious appetite for fuel however and it was built, handled, and braked like a total shit box... Lots of rattles for being brand new
