Stupid copper thief
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. -- An Osceola County deputy had little trouble tracking down a suspected copper thief. Several dozen poles of copper were tied to the roof.
Deputies eventually found out the copper was stolen from a Hilton Hotel construction site in Orlando. They said Michael Rabell was also driving without a license.
Rabell was booked into the Osceola County jail without bond.

last time i hauled a load of copper up it was 3.35 a pound for 'clean, number one' copper (clean pipe, no solder, fittings or paint) and 3.25 for 'number two, dirty' copper.

Some guy cut out a foot section of copper water pipe that goes to the est side of our shop. We replaced it and painted all other copper piping silver, we also put a box around the fitting on the street. I work at a machine shop that goes through tons of aluminium a day and we have huge bins of scrap in the back. I have caught some amigos with shopping bags full of aluminuim shavings trying to walk out our back gate. They always say we thought it was trash? It is almost sad to see these guys do it.

Its rediculous that the prices are so high on the stuff anyhow. The way I hear it is that the Chinese are buying all of our scrap and selling it back to us as new product..go figure.

haha yea i work in a machine shop too and we have a couple big bins of aluminum chips.. We ran out one time and there was a guy in a truck and another inside the chip bin shoveling chips into the bed of the truck. The driver took off but we made the one inside the chip bin wait there for the police. If they were smart they would go for the titanium or steel bins.
