Stem cells to battle cancer...
Anyone heard of this?
Or even better...anyone have a family member or friend that has gone through it?
Apparently it is an option for those having problems or isn't battling cancer with the 'regular' chemotherapy. They pull out some cells from bone marrow, grow it, and then mix it in with the chemo cocktail.
Sounds evasive as hell, but better than the other option. Sounds like the patient may end up in isolation for up to a month at the hospital.
RealLiveMD....any info by chance?

I think its awesome technology and can help many. But there are retarded politicians that are against it. Why I have no fucking idea. Perhaps they get a kickback on all the drugs that get sold to fight cancer via chemo etc.

Well, whatever this procedure consists of is legal. They are talking about doing it if the PET scan in a few weeks doesn't show any positive results.

A friend of mine's partner is going through this now. Rough treatment, but they say it's reallky successful.
My Dad went through then normal radiation chemo treatment and it was crap and unsuccessful.

That is where we are right now. The typical chemo started out working great, but the last PET scan showed minimal gains towards fighting it.

If i were her, I'd go for that stem cell stuff C, hopefully it works and then ya'll can spread the word about it. If theres a better alternative to chemo, it should be used.

The thing is, she still has to do the chemo, just with the added stem cells in it to produce a much more effective therapy. They don't want to get into the stem cells unless they have too....while it sounds like a great therapy it is very invasive I guess. Quite painful as they have to get the cells from bone marrow in three different places.
Eh...shit happens. My mom is a very strong woman, this isn't gonna slow her down all that much.
Thanks though!
