someone double check my thinking on truck issue...

A buddy has a late model dodge ram. Over the summer we went drinking and partying on a river. When he got there he had a small radiator leak. We drank and partied all week instead of working on the truck....somehow it just kinda got forgot about until he was ready to go home. He went down to the river and loaded up some jugs of water in case he needed them on his way home. Long story short he overheated the truck in a bad way. He took it to a shop out by where he lives and they looked at it and told him he needed a whole new motor. I asked him if it seized up and he said no that it still turns over and he did get it to run a couple times but it ran like shit.
I'm thinking he just needs new heads do to those warping from the overheat. Any reason you guys can think of that he would need an entire long block? Are those aluminum heads and block? I'm just thinking if it's not seized he can throw a set of heads on it and rock and roll.

Does the oil look milky? One problem with overheating it bad is the bearings could be on the way out. It might take a week, year or more. Could also have a cracked head or block. I would first check plugs. Then do a leakdown test. This will help identify any cracks or leaks.
