Sirius help please
I don't know much about these things, but where my wife works, they have a sirius unit to pipe in the music. It cuts in and out a whole lot. It'll play for 1 minute, cut out for 10 seconds, etc. The antenna for it is behind a false ceiling. There's no mounting to it, it's just kinda tucked up there, sitting flat. It's in the ceiling, so it's not going to be moved around or anything.
I assume it has to do with the reception of it. They say that it seems to work a bit better when it's sitting on the metal frame supports that hold the ceiling tiles, but in my experience, it hasn't made a bit of difference. I tried actually sticking the antenna directly to a ground conduit up there near by, but that doesn't affect it either.
Does anyone here have any idea what it takes to make these work? The antenna doesn't need a line of site with a satalite does it?
Thanks for the help!
Mike

Grrr... That kinda sucks since it kinda needs to be inside. Is there some sort of outside antenna? This one looks clearly made for an indoor use.

There was a story on the news here that said a lot of people were having trouble with reception inside of buildings. The report said the satalite signal was being sent to large antennas and then directed to individual units from that. They found out that a bunch of the antennas had been turned off and that was causing the problems and they said it would be fixed in a few weeks. I'm not sure if this could also be a problem where you live or not but supposedly it is going to be fixed soon so it may just start working on its own soon.
