    Job Title: Communications Specialist
    Department: Marketing

    Summary:

    This position researches, prepares and disseminates a wide variety of information to various internal and external publics. Strong communication, creativity and writing skills are critical to this position.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Develop separate editorial calendars for the industrial and consumer product divisions.
    • Act as liaison to our PR agency.
    • Research the abilities and costs of media syndication services, recommend a plan for using such services, and coordinate all media placements via said service(s)
    • Develop, organize and maintain a industrial PR media distribution list; initiate and maintain strong working relationship with print and electronic media
    • Tracks results of PR tactics across media such as stories distributed via syndication services.
    • Maintain repository of press releases, articles, VNRs (video news releases) and SMTs (satellite media tours).
    • Develop and maintain press kits, write press releases, media advisories and announcements. Produce and/or aid in the production of VNRs and SMTs.
    • Distribute industrial press releases via industrial PR distribution list
    • Manage all incoming media and sponsorship requests.
    • Plan, draft and distributes the company e-newsletter
    • Serve as the primary copywriter for catalogs, brochures, promotional flyers and inserts
    • Monitor online social interaction via services such as google.blogs.com
    • Insure all materials portray accurate and up-to-date technical information and work directly with technical support staff to acquire and/or research the necessary data.
    • Serve as a gatekeeper for all PR requests
    • Plan and coordinate news conferences and media events; prepare related materials
    • Secure media coverage for corporate sanctioned special events and fundraisers
    • Assist with writing, editing and developing content for other communications outlets.
    • Edit articles and content from other department members, customers and/or freelance writers
    • Develop a speaker’s bureau for interviews and special events; provide technical assistance and training to departmental managers, program directors and Board in areas relating to media, marketing and community relations

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience
    Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university - a major or minor in public relations, technical writing, English, communications and/or marketing preferred; and/or three or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Language Skills
    Strong, demonstrable writing skills are critical. Candidate must also possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

    Mathematical Skills
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Reasoning Ability
    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Computer Skills
    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have broad knowledge of standard Microsoft Office software and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with design and/or video editing software is a plus.

    I'd work there. Sure as hell beats a regular office job/company. And we could have people dyno run their car before and after adding 200$ worth of Royal Purple fluids. I'd fudge the correction factors, customer thinks they gained 20rwhp, everybody's happy.

    communication isn't Sarge's specialty unless you're talking sailors or tow truck drivers. He communicates equally well with each of those.

    I was going to go through there and highlight the key reasons sarge wouldn't be a good fit for that job but there are so many......
