    Sarge: Please enlighten these folks..

These guys love long oil change intervals and Royal Purple, and they're a buncha douchebags telling lies. I signed up on the forum and have had good luck thusfar, but this thread...its, well, apalling.

    Here's a few quotes...

"Once I hit 5K and that 2nd OC it is Royal Purple from then on."

"3,000 and went to Amsoil and dual filtration system. I now use the 5/W30 SSO synthetic adn change at 30,000 miles."

"1500 miles and switched to Royal Purple"

Let them be....not one single shred of data to base any rational oil change interval in the entire thread...I saw some Grandpa quotes etc. but no data....people like that are the reason Royal Purple is in business.....all marketing bullshit and no facts....

every 3,000 miles for me. Even some Hondas and other cars say in the handbook that oil changes aren't neccessary for 10k miles but its always better to be safe if you love your car

Like these new oils claiming every 5-10 or even 15k miles, wtf? Every 3k miles here, born and raised on 3k's, so why change? Besides, its a piece of mind to know that its not lack of oil changing that causes your motor to seize.

Bleh...I agree with letting them be. Chrysler needs all the help they can get right now, so the Dodge guys fucking up their engines and having to buy all new cars/trucks would be perfect for them.

Edit: And yeah, every 3k miles here too. If my motor ever does go on me, I don't wanna be standing there next to my car going "uhh...I guess I shoulda changed my oil more often.."

Us young guys in nice cars get looked down on enough as is..

Fuck all the Royal Purple BS. Mobil 1 has never let me down and it's also a hell of alot cheaper.

Also how the hell does he even have any oil left at 30k????

Indeed. I finally got my dad off the Royal Purple bandwagon after letting him read through a few of Sarge's posts. Been going with Penzoil Platinum myself. No complaints. Need to stock up...Autozone's had 5qts of PP + 1 K/N filter on sale for awhile now..

And maybe that guy gets by on topping it off everytime his oil light comes on..

I wonder if he cleans it by putting the hose down in the oil tank and starting the engine when he finally does change the oil?

Even though most oils can go over the 3k. I just do it at that anyways as general rule of thumb. For how cheap an oil change is in relation to all the money people dump into these cars, its worth it imo.

Eh, I don't bother with oil changes any more. It burns through a quart every month anyway, so I just keep filling it up with fresh oil. Constant fresh oil in there really.

It's been working like that for a year now.

I have used RP once. No problems. But I regularly use Mobil 1 5w30. I used to change my oil every 3k but now I change out at 5k.
