Any builders here?
I built a pole barn and I did not know I needed a rat wall. so I've been diggin a trench around the building. Anybody got any experience with this?

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
It's a four inch wide by two foot deep concrete “rat wall” around the perimeter of a building. Most people lay down as a foundation first, then build on top of it. I haven't heard of anyone adding a rat wall to an existing building, so might have to contact someone on your local codes.

Our pole building simply has a treated 2" x 8" board sunk into the ground all the way around the perimeter. Eventually, we'll have concrete, but so far I haven't had any issues with critters digging under the board. Building is just about a year old now and sets in a field with nothing else around it.

Michigan must be full of rats!
(Actually, my home state so that could explain my career choice)
