Radio INSTALL, HELP ASAP!!
When you pull the radio out, there are THREE connectors. TWO are stuck together as if they are one. I found the wiring diagram and got those all figured out. Then there is a black connector with a red tab on the back of it. It is small and has like 18 pins, only 6 or so have anything on it. The wires are this. White/brown, white/black, Green, Black, and a BARE wire, no insulation on it what so ever. What the fuck is this connector for and what do the wires do? Installing my radio now and I am stumped. Is it to the amp? What do I do with it! THANKS!! I posted this in stereos to, but I know more people are looking here and I have to work tonight so I got very limited time to get this done.

I can't help ya man, but i THINK my car (1997 Formula) had the plug and it was just dangling behind the stereo, I had a non-monsoon system so I think it might be for the amp. I just used a store-bought harness adapter to splice into my radios harness and it worked fine for me, but there again I only had 4 speakers and no factory amp.

We traced it and turns out even though I have never had the 6 disc changer in the trunk, they installed all the wires, and plugged the harness into the back of the radio for it. Is that fucked up or what? And having the ground as a bare wire? Right now I am splicing all the wires together for the harness. Reading through the programming function for steering wheel controls. I can see how that is going to go horribly horribly wrong. It has one button, "Program" and based on how many times you push it, it affects every step of programming it.

what kind of radio do you have? i put in a alpine with the steering wheel controls, the instructions [if thats what you wanna call them] were so so confusing.i finally said f*** it an just started playing with it till i figured it out. there was only one wire you actually had to connect [light blue i think] an programing it isn't hard once you figure it out, so if you need some help lemme know.

Alpine you just use the normal connector with a regular like headphones sort of jack that plugs in the back of the radio. Kenwood had a seperate wire with a male bullet connector on it. The steering wheel control box has the wire for kenwood, but you have to soldier on your own bullet connector. So I figure hey, I gotta use my own bullet connector I'll cut off the jack from the other cable I am not using and get myself a new one! Turns out when I cut that jack off it had three wires in it, and well they are all touching
And that is why I hate electricity. I pulled them all apart, put tape around each individual wire, and it worked.
