Question about gears?
What are the different gear ratios that come in an lt1 and an ls1? For instance would a '98 Z28 M6 have different gears than an '02 WS6 M6? Or were the gears an option upon each individual purchase?
Also, if i was going to buy a f-bod that didnt have any of the dealership papers or markings on the door panels/hood, how could i find out what gear ratio it had? Thanks

There was a performance axle in some Auto's that came with 3.23's otherwise they had 2.73's.
All M6's came with 3.42's

Put the car on the rack via it's frame. Put the trans in nuetral.
Now go underneath and make a chark mark on the inside of one of the rear tires.
Grasp the driveline and begin turning the driveline.
Count how many driveline rotations or turns with one full rotation of the wheel/tire.
If the driveline makes just under 3 -1/2 rotations/turns, with one full rotation of the tire, you have a 3:42 gear.
This Count includes the same for 2.73 highway/NASCAR gears all the way to 6.55 Pro Stock gears.
