And yes, honestly I know. Possibilities are endless for me after she heads off to college in 8 months.

40 isn't even the 1/2 way mark lol. Kids should bring joy to your life which makes you live longer

yes...it's normal for your balls to sag......wait......what was the question?

seriously though.....do it all. Getting older really has nothing to do with it.....it's the responsibilities you get as you age that pile up on you. When you have kids especially all of your wants get put on the back burner for the most part and you give it all up for them. It's a good thing because seeing them happy makes you happy but at the same time there is a lot of shit you do without to make them happy. I guess I can't say "all" of your wants but a good portion of them. Me and my wife still talk about "the greatest christmas ever" It was our second xmas together when we both had good jobs and no kids so we just went crazy on each other. I scored some cool shit that year that I still have. The next year Zach was here and it's been fucked up ever since. We traveled a lot and when we wanted to do something we just did it. All that shit is gone now. Now in order for us to even have a night together without the kids it takes 2-3 nights worth of planning figuring out who we can get to watch them, how much shit we have to pack for them, and when/where we drop them off and pick them up. Then we spend most of the night talking about the kids and how we miss them. Ridiculous huh?
Travel, treat yourself, manage your time wisely, stay away from computers/video games, make a bucket list and do it, and work to live not live to work.

The only regrets I have is not going to college, NOT having kids and when I got married at 26 yrs old. Other then that, all is well. I just turned 40 last august and in decent physical shape, especially when I see some other peeps that are in their early 20's and 30's and they just dont seem to take care of themselves. Oh yeah, getting a DWI several yrs back, that sucked.

Yeah, it's a catch 22 with kids. Most people think you need to have them young so you yourself are young while raising them. This doesn't give you time to enjoy life together as a couple first, or to enjoy yourself and things you want a lot of times. Not always though. Several friends had kids as soon as they were married and now all they do is sit at home with their kid and they are in their 20's. They are pregnant again. The fact is, when you are young like that, even with a good job you just don't make enough to do all you want. Especially without a good education these days and even then good paying jobs are not exactly easy to find.

Now take the other approach like myself. 35, concentrated on school and my career the last decade plus. Bought my house at 22 (currently the only debt I have). Own 3 cars all paid for and a bunch of other toys. Have a very healthy amount saved in savings and I'm more than good to go concerning my retirement. Great paying job. The downfall...I'm 36 in 2.5 months. Say I meet a girl worth marrying. We date 2 years then decide to get married. So I'm 39 and now married (assuming all the stars align lol). Well I want a few years as a married couple to enjoy first, before kids. Traveling for me is a must. That puts me at 42 and having my first kid. Most people think that's too old for whatever reason. A female on the other hand has more of a biological clock. So, that's why I typically date women younger than me. No way in hell a girl is going to want to have her first kid at 40+ (at least not most).

My advice - live your life how you want to and don't have any regrets. Make smart decisions and be savvy when it comes to saving and money. Start your retirement as early as possible, even if you have little to put in it. It still makes a difference long term. Whatever happens, happens. If you think too much about all the "what ifs" in life, you'll be miserable.

My grandfather was 42 when he had his first kid. he got to enjoy his great granddaughter, as some may know he only recently passed at 97. He never regretted that decision.

as for your younger chick thing, not all of us pushing 40 are opposed to having more children. I think id be a better mom now than my 20's.
