Hello everyone,

Here is the situation: My wife owns a 94 Z28, all stock. Problem is this, the car has no takeoff, was missing real bad, changed the coil, wires, plugs and ICM. Runs smooth now, but still no takeoff. When you first start the car, it will have a little, but then the ABS light comes on and that is it. Also, it is now not going into overdrive. Tried to pull codes, but when you install the jumper wire, It is OBDI, the Service engine light goes out and the fans come on. Any guidance over what to check would help.

The auto tranny in 1994 is shifted by the computer. With all the electrical problems you have had it is possible the computer is hosed. Before doing stuff that takes a mot of time and effort like changing wrining harnesses, I would suggest finding a used PCM from another 1994 in a junkyard and swapping it out. Make sure it is from an auto with the same motor but otherwise it should work just fine. I picked up a spare PCM for $50.00 last summer and they are very easy to swap out. Do a visual to make sure there are no burn't wires or anything but my suspicion is it is the PCM unit if all else runs smooth. You should also change out the fuel filter if everything else was in poor condition as that is one item that is often overlooked. If you are not getting enough fuel flow you won't be making much power.

thanks, sound advice. fuel filter already got swapped and no change. computer sounds like a def posibility, really was not thrilled with the idea of an optispark change.
