So its a boosted V6 rated at 600hp...why not just go with the GT500 setup that is 662hp and stick to the heritage of the GT40 and go V8?

Think they really are trying to push the ecoboost line. They did the same thing with the 2017 raptor. It's getting a boosted v6 instead of its normal v8.

yea...that makes the previous model raptors more attractive to me...the government regulations and emissions pushed them in that direction but now they have taken it and run with it. I'm not knocking the ecoboost stuff either because it is very nice...cousin of mine has a F-150 Platinum with 35's and a nice lift and you would never know it was a V6 when you drive it but it is.

I just dont understand why they would put it in this car...anything else I could understand but not this one.

Ecoboosts in the f150 have had a few problems. I agree they do feel nice but there are already common problems.

I agree though, I would like to see a v8 in the car. I loved the ford gt... despite the electrical gremlins.

See I could see the Base getting one and the others staying V8's. Marketing it like the Camaro's and Firebirds, where they are base model V6's and if you want the performance, pay for the V8.

Then of course there are rumors again about a mid engine Vette for the next generation (Gen 8's).


What I'm curious about is just how much stress is on the V6. That much boost can't be below 15-20lbs.

See, this is the exact bullshit that ruins things. This is the reason the new Z06 has a tiny supercharger instead of a high spinning big cube motor, like originally intended. The EPA a long with bullshit clown shoes environmental groups such as the Sierra Club coupled with this administration really have "the boot on the throat" of the automotive industry.
