i ran the Nitto 555R for 3 season and got about 12,xxx miles out of them.

they hook better then a street tire on the streets, at the track they suck.
MT ET streets or Street DR are definitely a better tire for traction but you may only get 5000 miles out of them

Nitto came out with the NT05R, better traction then the 555R but less miles.. might try them this year.

So it comes down to what you want or need...
more miles out of the tire, or better traction

I've got some sort of Fuzion 245s on my pewter Z right now. The guy put all 4 brand new tires on prior to my purchase. 20k miles, and I should probably rotate. They've held up well, and get excellent traction in the rain. I won't comment about dry conditions, because they all seem to spin way too easily, unless you go to a DR or atleast 295s on a different wheel (I've got snowflake '00-'02 Z wheels)

im thinking about snagging a set of NT555 tonight off line. Not looking for a Track tire just something to run until i can buy a new set of rims i can rotate. Any other suggestions of an alright tire im not going to kill myself with in the rain and traction? Trying to stay kinda on the low side Due to having to pay for wedding. I need 275/40/18

kinda lame of me but i got 275/?40-35?/17 F1's on the front. Reading the thread you link me to i seen you compared the foot print of your G's to the nt555 and it was a 1/4" difference. You think the same would hold going from a 255 17" to a 255 18" G would hold the same ?

How long do the NT555 last again? I take receipt today. I didn't get these for the track.

    I ordered these:

I'm running 555R's on the back and like them. But, they're only used on the street.

My intentions are the same street only. How many miles you got on them? How are they in the rain?

Not many. I'd say probably 2k miles and only once in the rain as it's not a daily driver. They did okay as long as I stayed out of it. The 555Rs are drag radials though. I'm running 450 Extreme's on the front.
