To predict their success all you need to do is look at IROC. In a stock car environment, open wheel racers rarely do well. Sure they're good drivers and have tons of talent, but even running a 3400lb low tech dino in circles can be humbling... They'll need to learn new skills like drafting, and "moving" other cars out of the way. And they won't have the "nannies" like traction control and ABS to mask their shortcomings. Hopefully it will prove once and for all driving in circles is MUCH harder than it looks

Did anyone here catch "Trading Paint" on the speed channel about 3 years ago? Montoya drove Jeff Gordon's Cup car around the Indy road course and was lapping within a second of Gordon's best time after only a handful of laps. We all know Gordon is extremely good on road courses. Montoya is going to be a serious problem for the "veterans."

Give me a break. The arguement is that he is not going to be able to deal with a super-heavy "low-tech" Cup car. He has more then proven his ability to race competitively in CART and F1. He is also well known for being easy on cars from a mechanical standpoint and also for being fast in a less then top-teir car.
I am not dissing NASCAR. Far from it. I think most of those drivers are insanely talented. Like in the top 1% of drivers on this planet. What I am doing is saying that Montoya is just that good.
