Some cops will let you go with 10 over. But that's the limit. I don't even go 10 over anymore.

Ah come on, he's already nervous, don't do that to him
Tickets are easy, especially when it's simple speeding, not excessive speeding or reckless driving or anything like that. As others said, I'm surprised he bothered with 10 over. Must be a small town.
As long as you don't accumulate too many speeding tickets in too short a period, you're ok. Varies from state to state, here I think a speeding ticket sits on your record for 3 years, or maybe 5. And it's points based, more points for higher speeding infraction, and like 7 points will get your license suspended. I may be way off, haven't had to worry about this in a while, but you get the idea. It's probably something similar where you are...
The real worry is your insurance. If they get wind of it, 18 year old with sports car, could be unrealistic increase in premiums, so prepare for that... I'd make an effort to fight it or get it reduced just to avoid that possibility...

Fight it, nothing to be scared of. Worst case scenario is the cop shows up and you have to pay.

Ive had my share over the years and Ive found just getting one of the lawyers who send all the adverts to you will take care of the problem easily. Will cost you a little extra but it beats the hell out of not having to go do community service or trafic school to get out of it.

I've let people go for 15 over before. I just depends on their demeanor. I'm not saying the OP was an ass to the officer at all. Every officer is different I suppose.
When I get called to court for a ticket someone wants to fight, I go into the hallway with our township attorney and the person fighting the ticket. We work it out in the hall and then back into the courtroom and settle it. If its your first ticket, I don't see you getting screwed the whole 9 yards. Just relax and see what happens when you go to court.

Just be glad he didnt get all ticket happy and he only gave you one. The first time I was stopped it resulted in 7 tickets, traffic court, traffic school, and $800 a month insurance for like 7 years.

7 tickets? Yikes! Either he was having a bad day, or you gave some attitude (unintentionally of course!), or you were really driving crazily...!
It obviously varies from LEO to LEO, and from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, even day to day. When I was still young, 21ish, I got stopped once for doing 95 in a 55 on the interstate. I quite expected to get a whopper of a ticket or worse. The officer asked me what the rush was, and I told him honestly that I didn't have a good excuse, I was just late for a movie with some friends. He told me to slow it down and enjoy the movie, and left. I was quite surprised!

Go to court, plead guilty and hope they offer you community service to drop the ticket. Since it's your first you should be good- at least that's how it works here in TN. If you try to fight it, they'll win. Also, how old are you? If you are under 18, have your dad go with you. Admitting your guilt in front of your parent to the judge goes a long way.
As you can tell, I've been through this a couple of times! Happened with my first ticket (12 over) and my last one (because there were 10 years since I got my last ticket!) Good luck- it'll cost you for the court cost and may be over what you'd pay just to pay for the ticket but your insurance won't go up. It's a gamble whether or not they'll let you off, but good luck.2000 Pontiac Firehawk #0041 of 742
