My 5 yr old just called a ricer a "fart can" :P
So I was going to the post office (my little girl is sitting in her car seat in the backseat) when this totally obnoxious ricer pulls up on the passenger side and starts trying to rev. It's totally puffing smoke and sounding like a lawn mower on crack, as I turn left it passes loudly.
I look back and my little girl has this totally disgusted look on her face and points at it and says "that's a fart can!" (which it had on, of course). I am trying not to crack up when the next question is "Daddy, is that a ricer?" I loose it at that point
All I can say is "Yeah, that's a ricer and don't say fart in front of your mother (I think to myself-or else I'll catch it)." Then I ask her while we're walking in, is "Engel (my T/A) a ricer? She just rolls her eyes at me and says "NO! Dad!"
Kids are great (sometimes...)!

You are teaching your girl right. Moments like that are both precious and unforgetable.

I remember being like WTF when the first ricers started rolling around here. I was five in '98 so that's about right. And a double WTF for the cars that were built when the fast and the furious came out. The peak of the ricer era.

I remember way back when (say, 10, maybe 12 years ago) i saw a magazine, and in there was an ad for companies that sold these obnoxious replacement bumpers and sideskirts for cars. Why would anyone want to change the appearance of the already good looking cars? I just didn't get it. Then it became mainstream, and reality.

Yeah sadly, and every 16 year old kid around here either wants one, or has one. It's sad that Hollywood has influenced kids that way. They'd rather have a cheap '92 Honda or any other POS ricer than work, save their money, and get a Real car.
Kids don't have any idea of what a car really should be anymore, and since the car industry is in the crapper the chances of any real muscle ever being built again gets slimmer and slimmer. In 30 years fast, unique, cars will just be in a damn history book somewhere and all that we'll be able to buy will look like those cars on "Demolition Man". That's where society is headed if the crazy environmentalist/Obama get their way. "The future is a 40 year old virgin sitting around his apartment wearing beige pajamas, drinking a broccoli milkshake and singing I'm an Oscar Mayer weiner." Funniest line from that movie.Last edited by BdAsBrd01; 09-25-2009 at 08:28 PM.

This.
We got family members, kid went out and bought a WRX. Don't get me wrong, they're a very capable car and all, but its not V8 RWD Muscle. Kid's never been in a true car with any kind of power, but yet he thinks this WRX is gonna make him chief of his tribe. If the 'bird was runnin', I'd show him what he's missing.

My girls definitely know the difference and totally believe in F-bodies. When my girls go to school dances or want to make an entrance, they ask for me to drive them.
They hate ricers.
