Mods, please feel free to add space between mother and shoots in title. It had a space before I posted title, not sure what happened there : Thanks!

here's the real newsflash - this kind of thing happens everyday, ..only the LSM is rarely willing to report it... it must have been painful for GMA and george stephanopolis to report this, ...afterall, if he had his way, she would've been struggling w/ removing a trigger lock, after removing it from an "approved" safe, and inserting the lone shotgun shell she'd be "allowed" to own..

... this woman did the exact right thing... she's fortunate she had the wherewithal to know what to do, thinking ahead, and lives in the USA... if this woman did what she did in the UK, she'd be the one charged by the police, ..that is if she survived the encounter..

Yeah, I thought so too. "A pistol in one hand, a 12 gauge in the other and the baby's got a bottle." I'd say she's got her shit in line & a cut above the idiots on that Teen Mom show!

Not sure on this point, I'll have to look it up, but I believe in Mississippi you only have to be "in fear of your life" to shoot an invader. I don't think they have to make it completely inside the door to make it legal to use "deadly force."

If an intruder doesn't make it inside, just drag his sorry ass in, after you shoot him. Then shoot him again to make sure blood splatter is inside your house.

I've spoken about this with others and I'll say it here as well.

Buy a good dog to go with that gun you have for protection.

If someone breaks into your home, you're likely to be startled out of sleep.

I don't care if you're the meanest sumbitch on your block, you WILL be surprised by the event..

A good dog in the larger breeds is an excellent first line of defense and that's a FACT.!

Even a simple bark WILL slow an invader down just enough for you to get your shit together, giving presious seconds to get armed and ready.

A dog can hear in their sleep as well as sense danger, long, LONG, before you ever will, even if you're wide awake.

No dog, and you COULD find yourself waking to an intruder standing over you or worse...TOO LATE!

Dogs have been giving their lives in a protective manor since the dawn of time.

This makes them a dangerous foe for anyone intent on harming it's "pack"..

I'm definitely a dog advocate too... not only are they a line of defense, but also one of the greatest deterrents out there.

But every red blooded American should have a rifle / shotgun cocked, locked and ready to rock within a reasonable reach of where they sleep. I appaud this lady and her actions without hesitation. She's safe and her baby is safe, and the piece of shit criminal is sucking lead.

I agree with Smittro, my dogs have always protected my family and let us know when ppl are near our property.

Nothing says "stay the fuck away" like a 90lb Doberman or 85 lb German Shepard

+1 on dogs, thieves will think twice when a dog is barking inside a house.the early warning a dog provides also gives you ample time to jump put of bed and get your gun
