Metal fans inside...This guitarist is nuts, (cannibal corpse video)

I cant even think of my fingers moving that fast, how do you know if your hitting the right fret or not? please explain that. Also are the strings on the guitar like really really close to the neck because playin that fast seems like you have to just barely touch the string.

    respect

Ya it takes years of practice and yes they strings are a lot smaller i mean thinner to give that nice clean tone once you bearly touch the string 2 fret

I think the bassist is a bit more impressive. He doesnt have uber distortion.

You can play that stuff with a really sensitive electronics in the guitar (I couldnt tell, but it sounded like an EMG HZ Humbucker...or maybe an EMG 81) either way...something that is really fucking hot - by hot I mean you can touch the strings and it will resonate and feedback like a bastard. Those humbuckers combined with a serious distortion effect can produce something that would probably sound like shit if it were not distorted.

    They are good though.

After that, it is just lots of practice. It is fast, but it is incredibly repetitive. I bet any decent guitarist could sit down with the tabs for that and play it within a few hours.

To me, this is much more impressive simply because he is playing it on an acoustic guitar and getting really good intonation out of what he is playing.

This, though not as fast, is much harder than what the Cannibal Corpse guy is playing.

my brain doesnt even think that fast, and how do these guys brains think that fast, i mean most of the those death metal guys have to be on some kind of drugs, but i guess you dont have to think when you play the same stuff over and over.

my friend went to a few of cannibal corpse concerts and said they play as fast as possible for over an hour without taking breaks in between songs, i would love to be in that mosh pit

I loved the way this guy played. He is truly missed in the hard rock/metal world.

Although I'm a heavy metal and speed metal freak from way back, I agree! Al DiMeola has been playing for 30+ years that I know of. I have some of his stuff on vinyl (12" LP) from back in the day. Got to meet him back in '79.

drugs have nothing to do w/ it..i played drums in a death metal band for 4 years & recorded an album w/ the band BASTARD SPAWN in ohio/kentucky & i can tell you metal musicians are the most underacclaimed, passionate, misunderstood musicians out there!i agree speed isnt everything in music..but it is very impressive

Most of the real good musicians that I've played with (I play drums) don't do any drugs when they play (if at all). I've played in some prog rock bands that I had a hard time keeping the meter and timing correct stone sober let alone on any kind of drug.
