looking for a good boat forum....
Anyone go to a good boat forum? I need to do some work to my boat motor and don't know what I'm doing and need some guidance. It has an automatic oiler and the oil warning beeps every once in a while at idle. I need to figure out where the oil sensor is and how to diagnose if it's the sensor or oil pump that's acting up. I'm pretty sure it's getting oil to it so I'm leaning towards the sensor.

oh shit,.....Ohio. I forgot, freshwater.
Well, I guess it's pretty universal.
so...If it just does it when you're idling its def. the sensor because that wouldn't make sense that when you're gunnin the thing the light won't turn on. So def. the sensor. But as far as where......

Could always diconnect the oiler and run premix, then your sure its oilin. And it smells so good.

go to the boat store and ask if they have a service manual for that particular outboard, and what the book costs. the book will give you locations, and schematics etc. my guess is that heat took its toll on the wires and you are getting a funky connection at the buzzer. However its possible theres an obstruction in the oiler at low rpms. Personally i hate oil injection. I'm a premix man. Oil injection gives too much of a chance at a catastrophic engine failure.

I agree with you all the way around pretty much. From what I understand you can't just unhook it and run premix. I'm not sure exactly why but the manual says you can't do that without modification. I'm about 99.9% sure that it's getting oil at idle because it still smokes like it should so that would tell me there's oil there and the buzzer has been very sporadic, only done it twice. I haven't ran it enough since it started doing it to see if the oil level is dropping because I don't want to ruin the motor if it's not getting oil.
I think I'll take your advice and try to find a manual for it because that would help a lot. I know jack shit about boat motors for the most part but it's an engine so it's nothing that I can't learn. Just don't wanna break it figuring it out on my own. I just want to figure out where the sensor is, how it works, and how to trouble shoot it and the buzzer.
