    Let the late 1960's BEGIN!!!!

    By that I of course mean that the horsepower wars are officially ON between GM and Ford.

    First came news that the 2011 Mustang V6 would have more hp than the outgoing 2010 V8, a whopping 305hp base model! While still getting 31 MPG highway.

    GM fires back saying that the 2011 Camaro will get a power boost in it's V6 and up the milage a bit in the process.

    Winner = unknown yet

    So Ford launches their new in house designed diesel for the super duty line. It's got 390hp and 735lb-ft of torque.... well not to be outdone GM comes out with their new Duramax pumping out 397hp and 765lb-ft of torque.

    Ford promises to surpass this power rating in short order, less than a year from now but has not provided expected power numbers yet.

    So finally.... the main event. camaro vs mustang V8 power wars.

    so the current camaro is the known king of the pony car hill at the moment. 426hp in the SS is a heck of a lot of grunt from a mass produced fairly affordable machine. Ford wasn't so thrilled to give up that market so they shot back with the 5.0 v8. Great but 412 hp is less than 426 isn't it?

    perhaps not.... inside line got their hands on a 2011 GT and did some dyno pulls with it and after 7 pulls they concluded that it was getting 395hp at the wheels.... providing for an 11-13% drivetrain loss the new mustang 5.0 is cranking out between 438 - 446hp at the crank. In a car that's both lighter and cheaper than the current camaro.

    GM..... the ball is in your court and PLEASE keep this going!!!!

    Okay, I gotcha. A long as they don't upset the C.A.F.E.

    I like the 5.0 mustang much, much, much better then the 5th gen camaro. I can't wait to see it get stomped on by the stang when the road test results are released.

    Reminds me of when Dodge came out with the current body style in the 90's. Pissed alot of ppl off because dealers couldn't tell anyone so it wouldn't hurt sells.

    I must admit, the new Mustangs look damn good. I love the interiors. I really hate the new Camaro's interior besides the seats being super comfy. I hate to say it, but if the Mustang does in fact have that much power I'd consider getting one of those.

    Haha, yea. Those are still a few steps above the Challenger/Camaro IMO though, so those are not bad at all in my book.

    I think when they redesigned the trucks in '94/95. When we got our Grand Caravan I recall a salesman mentioning a big redesign that'll change the market or something like that

    Yep, you are going to see alot of them traded in.

    Just like people did when the 01 Z06 hit the floors with 385hp, and the following year they had 405 hp

    There sure were alot of 385 horsers forsale pretty cheap after that.
