How much profit in a CTS

I found a CTS for $38505, I offered 35505. The dealer won't budge. The offer came after researching on edmunds.com. Aren't we in a recession? Why not move more cars for less profit? How much profit is actually built into each car?

well i was offered a brand new $29k loaded caliber srt4 for $21k. On used cars, depending on how much they gave for trade in, that determines how much room there is to move. If its new, I'd just tell him to shove it and find a dealer willing to work with you.

It's not just you that's in a recession. So is the car dealer. He's trying to make money just like you're trying to save it.

So just because we're in a recession they should be losing money on cars. Gotcha. They have a price they want for the car. If its not your price, move on. Stop complaining with retarded crap like "aren't we in a recession".

If you think that cadillac would lose money by reducing the price by 3 grand off the MSRP, then you should reevaluate who is retarded.

Next time, either respond with an answer to the question asked or don't respond at all.... especially with hater comments.

Every penny counts. Do that to enough people and money starts adding up.

Tell him you'll give him 500 over what he has in the car and tell him you want to see the paperwork. If he wants to move the vehicle, he'll take it. The 500 is probably about what the "pack" in the car is and they usually won't go below that unless its an aged unit.

My 06 expedition was $42000, I paid $36000. My 03 camry, $26K, I paid 23K. The only car that I ever paid only $1800 off the sticker for was my 02WS6. However, it was the last black M6 shipped left in the entire midsouth.

Depends on the car, the dealers volume and factory incentives (if it's new).
Usually not 3k profit on a new car unless they (dealer) move ALOT of them and get factory incentives..
And seeing as we are in a recession, I don't see any dealer moving alot of volume on anything.
Used ? sure, unless he put alot into it to make a deal on another car.. Too many variables to say for sure. ACV of unit (actual cash value) floor plan/pac (title and fees etc to the bank for the note.. any RO (repair order) costs for "sprucing up" the used car..oil changes, reconditioning, tires etc whatever the car needed (gets added to ACV).
Let's say the dealer is holding 3000 dollars on a car, add floor plan/pac @ 500, recon 100, it needed four tires 900 and a commission for the salesperson that sells it... say 400 bucks Now it's only what? 1,100 margin. He has to show some sort of over allowance because every customer in the world thinks their car is worth 1000 more than it really is.. Now he is holding a whole 100 bucks profit on a CTS ? I know its all conjecture, but it's based on real life experience... I for one, wouldn't have let any car go to make 100 bucks, would you ?
Just some food for thought, not trying to ruffle anyones feathers..
