How much is my engine worth.
Ok, I want to buy a new long block from Texas Speed but it kinda depends on what I can get back on my engine. So as the title says what would it be worth if I were to put it on ebay or whatever.
Stock short block.
Stage 2 heads done by Morgan motorsports.
2.02 intake 1.56 exhaust valves
all Manley valvetrain components- ie valves, springs, retainers..
230-236 custom grind cam 585-595 lift on 114+4 lsa
double roller timing chain
only 3000 miles on engine since build. 113k total.
made 398 rwhp with 3200 stall unlocked and a 12 bolt rear.

not entirely sure yet. I know the one im looking at right now would be frowned upon in here so I am afraid to post it but here is one on the list.

Yes I realize a 402 isnt much more.

My only concern with the 402 is that I will be choking it off because I dont know if I will have the cash to throw heads on it right away. If I can unload my current long block for the price of a good heads and cam setup for the 402 I would like to go that option. Otherwise I may just do the 383 and keep my current heads and get a bigger cam

Save and buy the 402 IMO. I understand the whole head swap to larger cube crisis though. I couldnt tell ya what your engine is worth.

LoL I didnt realize it before but the 402 is actually cheaper. For some reason i thought the 402 was over 4,000$. Must have been price from a different site or something. The heads thing will kinda kill it though.

LOL, i wish I could do that. I am trying to be responsible with my iraq money but it is hard. I dont really know what I wanna do with the car yet really. Just curious about what I could get out of the old engine to see how much all this would cost in the end.

Hmm, only 3,000 miles on the current rebuild?
If you really want to save money, put nitrous on it and enjoy it. Run it down the strip and have your fun with it until you need a shortblock.
More bang for your buck - just as fast, if not faster, and you still have your 10K in the bank. Give or take.

I have nitrous.. 150 shot. Just hasnt been sprayed since the build.
I was looking into the options more though after posting.
with the 383 I would spend 3600 and have a full forged 383 short block and could use all existing parts from my motor to finish it off and up my cam to either a magic stick 4 or a custom grind in the 240s duration. That would be a very powerful motor and I could up the spray on that accordingly. Would be looking at about 4200$ total with gaskets and ca,. Also the 383 is aluminum and not iron.
with the 402 to get aluminum i would spend 4000 just on the built short block. since it would be an ls2 block I would need the adapter harness for another 400$ then with cam and gaskets I am up to 5k. Then I would be choking it with my current heads and would need to upgrade right away for another 1800$.
I just think that since I am going to spray it anyways the 383 would be a good way to gain torque, the forged bottom end would leave me worry free with the bigger cam and could add more spray to the eqaution.
Those are just my current thoughts. Anyone wanna argue the other side I would be more than happy to listen.
