HOT ROD Power Tour 2008 - Day 6 Coverage
Despite forcasted thunderstorms in Rochester, day 5 of the HOT ROD Power Tour turned out to be one of the best stops in the 14 years of Power Tour! Rochester Community & Technical College and the city of Rochester itself came out in great numbers to see Power Tour in person.

Our day started in Ames, Iowa with everyone very thankful that the overnight storms were not as bad as forecasted. We took the opportunity to ride with Gary and Vicky Killeen of Cuba, Missouri. They've brought a different car on each of the six Power Tours they've attended. This year's car is a 1963 Dodge 330. This three-year project was rebuilt from almost nothing. While the body was in good shape, the floorpans, the transmission tunnel, the firewall, and the cowl were all rusted beyond repair. Buying a donor car, the parts were either grafted or created to put this car back on the road.
For the first gas stop of the morning we stopped at K&H Classic Stop in Thornton, Iowa. There we had a chance to meet some of the others driving the tour with Gary. We've already shown you Paul Jordan's 1960 Corvette. After getting a fuel pressure regulator installed, Paul is enjoying his experience on the tour. Gary's brother, Kenny has also been several Power Tours with his 1966 Plymouth Fury III. Eric Earney came from Union, Missouri to join Gary on Power Tour with his '67 Camaro SS. Bringing up the rear of the caravan was Art Lindsey in his '69 GTO Judge.
The biggest mechanical issue was Kenny's transmission. The torqueflite has been slipping some during the previous few days. Kenny had it serviced in Ames on Wednesbeday and that helped. Kenny noticed some soot at the bottom of the transmission pan indicating abnormal wear on the clutch-packs. On the Rocherster, the transmission behaved very well and we made to Rochester without incident.
Thanks to Gary, Vicky, Kenny, Kenny's wife Carlene, granddaughter, Chloe, Eric Earney and his dad Treff, and Art Lindsey and his wife Loretta for their hospitality!
