I just got done spending the day moving shit, rewiring shit, putting shit together, etc etc.

Now my surround sound doesn't work.

Anyone that can offer some assistance as to what dumbass mistake I made I would appreciate it.

Here is how I have it hooked up.

Starting at the DirecTV box I have the cable line coming in and a HDMI cable going to the TV. From the TV I have (1) set of components going to the monitor out input of the back of the receiver. Coming out of the receiver (DVD out) I have (1) set of components going into the back of the DVD player. Also coming out of the receiver I have a toslink cable going to the back of the DVD player.

I know it is something stupid....It's been a long day.

    Thanks,
    JM

    LOL. Lemme check. Yes lol.

I am so tired right now. I have had this system hooked up before to a few different TVs. I swear I didn't change my set-up, but I must have.

I couldn't stand the fact that surround sound was not working so I tore into again bright and early this morning.

    Found the problem!

With only having components going from the TV to the receiver, I had no audio means!!!

Hooked up an optical cable from the input of the receiver to the cable box and bingo!

OP: I agree, it's probably something simple. I've helped several friends install their systems and there always seems to be some obscure step or change in wiring that has to be done to make everything work right.

Iroc: You have way too much free time. That was funny as hell!
