Help! Battling some revisionist history of...

The Dodge Daytona 2.2 Turbo from the late 80's, early 90's.

Some fan club on youtube is getting on my nerves.

I used to cruise every weekend in my 85 Trans Am, and later a 300zx Turbo, and got into plenty of races back in the 80's.

The 2.2 Dodge's were crapt, and these nutjobs have posted up a vid of what appears to be a purely track driven Daytona project car, and want to rewrite their history, and personally I think its crazy to suggest that a Shelby Daytona could run with a 5.0 Fox-body stang or a Tune-port F-body back in the day.

I know this is kinda nerdy, but I just can't stand ignorance about streetcars, particularly from an era that I spent so much time in beating down the competition!

So if you have youtube ID, and would like to chime in, here's the link:

Whats even worse is the track daytona is beating a GTA in the Vid. Grrrr...

There were four engine combinations as I recall with the fastest being over 200hp, one around 170, one around 150... And many slower variants... Pretty much most performance cars were anemic back then. The Daytonas were small and lightweight, and I really disliked them but some models were pretty quick and they weighed less than the Mustangs (I think).

There was an IROC version of the 2.2 that produced 224hp@6000rpm and 217fp torque at 2800rpm. The car weighed 3134 pounds. You do the math...
