Grand Prix GT "check engine light"

Wife's 2000 GP GT (3800 auto.) had the light pop on yesterday. Autozone counter help said gas cap, evap canister, or vaccuum leak. Cap looks like it's on tight, seals good, and guessing it functions correctly. Car has 120,000 miles and been pretty much trouble free. Only other time it had light pop on, it was thermostat. I checked what I could easily, unhooked neg. battery cable for 5-10 minutes w/o any better. These cars "famous" for anything to look for? Anything I should peek at before heading to the dealer?
    Appreciate the help!!!!!!!!!!!

Had it just been filled up? Gotta tighten the cap til at least 3 clicks
Wheel Bearings are a common issue with them though

the cap may be on tight but the seal could still be shot. Caps are cheap so I would replace that before looking at evap stuff. It could be a leak in the evap line but I would still try the cap first as it's common and cheap.

Well tonight we drove 3-4 miles from the house and the light went out ??
I had checked and cleaned the seal (like an o-ring) on the cap and it's mating surface around the filler neck.
    Now I have to wonder...
    THANKS for the tips!!
