I think he did the right thing. He won 4 championships with them, and they wanted him to take a 33 percent pay cut for a 1 yr deal. It was pride thing with him. Yes, I understand why they didn't wanna pay him the highest salary of any manager in the league, but I commend him for telling them to stick it.

I think Donnie Baseball is gonna manage the team

+1. Go anyone but Boston. I would like to see Cleveland win and get their ass handed to them by Colorado.

Ps. I hate Steinbrenner, but I like his desire to win. Its gonna suck for whoever is new manager because they have very high expectations of said person. Don Mattingly has commented on that, and that he is slightly scared of the idea, but New York loves him. The players love him. Its a wise move if they do it.

Hell yeah that would be awesome if Mattingly took over. He is my favorite player of all time. I think it was good for Torre to tell them to stick it and I think it is also time for the Yanks to go in a new direction. As much as i love Torre and appreciate what he gave us, I think his time with the team is up.
