http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/boa/1806407655.html
do any of you guys think this is a deacent deal on this boat? been wanting to get one for a long time. i would only offer him 2,800-3,000 for it. I know Chris Craft is a top of the line boat and wanted to see if anyone else had any input on it.

Get all the info you can. Take the boat out to test it too. Check all the fluids for the motor and the outdrive. If everything checks out, I'd say you're right on with your offer.

Skip that and go with the Outer Limits.

Well, since you're going to check it out, there's no possibility of a scam
If it has an out of state title, call up DNR or Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (different names in different states) to make sure the boat isn't stolen and he hasn't produced a fake title.
If all goes well there, eyeball the stringers in the boat. Not sure of how ChrisCraft is if they're wood or not, but some boats have glass stringers. Those that do, will be easy to eyeball any stress cracks.
Make sure you turn hard lock-to-lock and that there's no excessive vibrations.
With a boat that cheap, there's probably not much room to haggle with price, but service records are definately something you can use against an asking price, if he can't produce any.
I'm not all too familiar with IB/OB setups, but just check all drain plugs and such, so that when you can go to winterize, there won't be any surprises (this was my mistake). Some will have plastic plugs on the back of the manifolds. If a dealer winterizes, they'll let the motor reach operating temp so the Tstat opens, and they'll run AF through it. This makes it faster and easier to winterize, as well as jacking the price up (some dealers) for using more fluid. My winterization cost me between $50-$60, certain dealers charge anywhere from a couple hundred to, I've seen as high as almost $700 before. Flat out crazy!
Not much I can tell ya about a ChrisCraft, heard they're good quality boats

Everything is a money pit!!! I had a sled and all that thing did was break down so I sold it and bought a new one lol. No matter what it is it can have it's problems or it will be perfect we had a boat and the motor was junk bought a new one and has been good just have to keep up with maintenance and it will be fine and last for q very long time

Depends upon what it is, how often you put it to use, and if you have the knowledge to perform the upkeep. Not everything is a money pit my friend
I'm thinking a sled is probably a tad different than watercraft
Totally agree, everything has its fair shares of problems sooner or later... but nothing is perfect
Shoulda bought a MC

After replacing the battery, upon de-winterization, my boat started right up as well... sat for 5 months
I'm just not a big fan of IB/OBs. With exception of Bajas....

Then don't buy the ProStar series
The X-series is what I'm hoping to upgrade to, sometime in the near future. Motor in the back, stadium seating with an open walk-through bow that can convert to closed seating.... not to mention all the technology they've got on 'em now. Just don't have 60-70k to drop on a new X2 yet, have been talking with the bank tho

You guys on the freshwater have it easy. Saltwater destroys everything.

Even if you flush things go bad and need to be replaced. People who keep their boats in a slip aren't able to flush.

The longest I've kept mine in the water was 3 days. And I was pissed when I pulled it out and saw the ring of lake scum built up around the hull. Took that thing home and spent 3 hours between the initial wash and cleaner wax stages of it
I'd never use my boat in anything but freshwater. Unless I had no other place to go except for saltwater, and even then I'd probably make the 2-3 hour drive just for peace of mind
