Gonna slide this one in here....
I know this forum is for making up stories of getting blow jobs in the gym and whatnot....but I gotta share something from another thread that is bothering this old man.....guy said 9mm isnt worth a shit as a defensive round....and I said bullshit...and nothing else...so allow me to elaborate.....
When the 9mm came out the US immediately "toned it down" roughly 20% from the Europeans. So we got a weenier of a 9mm round....as the years passed US ammo manufactures made some significant improvement to the US version of the 9mm bullet itself but left the powder/charge/chamber pressure at an anemic 25,000 lbs of pressure.....NATO 9mm is at 30,000....Finally the US boys decided to come out with a +P charge at around 27,500lbs of pressure....hey now we are getting somewhere....better hollow point technology and +P made for a very destructive bullet versus the old standard US load and bullet. So fast forward to today....we got some deadly hollow point technology and +P+ loads in 9mm....guys....+P+ is nothing more than the standard NATO round....but the US +P+ 9MM Hollow Point is a bad ass round with a 96% one shot stop on the streets.....equal to any .40 round for defensive purposes.....so when I say a 9MM is a great defensive round it is with the above understood.....
Lastly....Gun manufacturers will say " you can use + ammo but it will shorten the life of your gun"....well horseshit...that is warranty lawyer babble....like saying if you do a burn out at the intersection in your FBody you are going to shorten the life of your transmission/rear end....DUH!!!
I carry many 9mm weapons with full confidence...I train with +P+ 9MM ammo and I carry it...My Springfield XDM 9MM is built to NATO specs (+P+ in the US) as is my Stoeger 8000 Cougar 9MM ( Beretta)....Hell even my lil ol cheap ass Kel Tec P11 loves the stuff.....My S&W9VE eats it up....On the KelTec and the S&W I have changed out the recoil springs with stouter Wolfe springs but all in all....my 9MM are all loaded and I train with +P+ 9MM ammo.....with no issues at all....and I am talking thousands of rounds....
So if you have a 9MM pistol...shooting the +P+ 9MM is the way to go for defensive purposes.....and is as cheap as it is deadly...and no it will not fuck up your gun if your gun was built after about 1985.....

And yes I carry and train with all my .40/.357/.45 weapons also....but I know so many have 9mm platforms and I just wanted to elaborate a bit....Last edited by Sarge; 12-21-2009 at 08:00 AM.

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
I own 2 9mm tactical side arms. Probably the most reliable weapon I own. I agree completely.

May as well stab him ( the bad guy) with a Phillips screwdriver....you get penetration but nothing else.....you need a hollow point with some characteristics.....
1. High velocity JHP to get the power to "open up" and provide the penetration (10" minimum)
2. You need technology that will allow your hollow point not to plug up with the bad guys clothes/jackets and prevent it from opening up.
The ammo you have is great for target shooting or shooting orions vacuum cleaners....but not for stopping power.....
Here are some really good 9MM loads with "change his mind quick" abilities...

As you can see some are + ammo and some are not....all have the velocity and stopping power and are excellent defensive rounds.....

Wasn't made up
Do you need anything special to get hollow points over regular bullets? Seems like something the liberals would enjoy banning or making harder to get.

Burple- 1966 427 Cobra Replica
I can't afford to train with the +P+ in my 9mm (cheap, standard pressure, FMJ at the range for me, please) but I do carry it. The P7M8 eats it all.

I had one 9mm and no longer own it. I am .45 or .357 Mag myself, I really like my 1911's. The 9mm as you have stated can be a great defensive round. It will do more than enough damage to stop the threat and or kill it. I just like me 45's with hollow or other ammo of the like. Nice small hole going in (9mm does the same) big arse hole going out (9mm is not as big but dead is dead)... I have thought of converting to 9mm.

I've always owned a 9mm. Sold my last one (Daewoo DP51) to get my Springfield XDm9.
