gas or electric weed wacker?
just bought a house, time for yard work -great.
I was looking for a weed wacker, not much wacking to do, small yard.
I just don't feel like buying and mixing gas. I have plenty of extension cords. Is one better then the other?

Get a four stroke weed wacker. No mixing, works great.

I like the Craftsman weedwackers with all the different attachments. My stepdad has one, with double helix line rotor, pole saw attachment, circular saw (not sure what he uses it for), and a couple others, along with an extra link for those hard to reach branches on trees and such.
I would go with gas, and four stroke as stated above if you don't want to mix. I prefer 2 stroke, they seem to last longer

i have not used an electric one in a long time but i'm told they have much more power and do a much better job than they used to. i have a 2 stroke gas which has more power than i'd ever need and i don't have to worry about cords. 1 tank of gas lasts a long time.

Go with GAS. Electric work ok and my grand mother has one but like said, the gas just seems to do it better. If you had a 2 mile commute to work would you get rid of your LS1 for an electric car? haha

gas, spend the extra cash and get an Echo or Stihl I think both have some that come with attachments. As far as mixing gas think of it like this. Sarge and many others use 2 cycle oil in small amounts (TCW3) in their cars to prolong the lives of the engine and other parts, so what do you think it will do in a weedwacker? You may have a small lawn now but what does the future bring? You may end up buying a much larger piece of land where cords or the batery powered one will be more of a pain than the gas ones.
Electric weedwhackers seem to die alot sooner as well, making buying new ones more expensive.

Cheap ass electric one. Unless the words small and yard mean something else than what I imagine you don't need a gas powered weed wacker.
I don't see why anyone would want a gas one for a small yard.

Get the cheapest gas one you can find. I used one from walmart at a cemetery when I worked there. Didn't break the whole damn summer. You don't need anything fancy.

I have a gas-powered one. Works great. Converts to an edger with the push of a button. Craftsman.

I've had a 2 stroke John Deere for 10 years, no problems with it.
