    Garbage Disposal!!!!

OK here is the Rant, Story, 4 yrs ago I bought this house and Gutted it....Including a New Garbage disposal. Well, after T-day it begins to leak @ the bottom, not an install problem but a disposal seal ect, and so forth. Now I go to a BIG home improvement store, one of 2 Big dept. stores in the Nation and buy a New Disposal, MADE IN USA, Right?.........should be a "good" one....Top of the Line $300 US, about.......so I take the Old one out and begin to install the New one right?.......Well, I guess in order to compete with China "they" meaning the co. who designed the Disposal wants me to "steal" parts off the Old one.....WTF?....So in order to make this POS work I have to "steal" the cord and "other Parts" from the old disposal to make it work.......I feel better venting.....anyway If I weren't knowledgeable with plumbing and electricity I would have to hire somebody to hook up my disposal......anyway, although "quiter" than the "chinese" one it replaced It was not worth $300 and "borrowed" parts to make it work. Furthermore it will probably go out in 3-5yrs too.....what a POS...

The second Pic is where I had to "steal the "chinese" disposal power cord and wire it direct to the "new" USA POS....No wonder "we" cant compete in a World market, probably union guys making $20 an hour and being "lazy" fixing to get laid off and don't "understand" why?.......

This is Not true, The one I bought 4yrs ago came with one, what if I didn't have one in there already?.....I would have to spend another $20 on a new cord and connections...

Some do. But the majority of them do not. I am an electrician so i get to hook alot of these up.

so, yes you would have to spend another $20 on a new cord and the connections

I live In Philadelphia are we are allowed to connect them directly to romex. We never had a problem with electrical inspections.

not here your not. but codes vary from city to city.
I would guess as long as the romex is protected by something like flex it would be ok, since it obviously has a disconect via switch. It just sounds like more work than its worth to me.

I am lucky, I dont hook them up either. thats what our electrician in for. When I did them I always had them just laying in the cabinet then I installed it in the sink.

Because codes vary from place to place.

Clothes dryers don't come with power cords either because of the various outlets.
