    Food for thought...

Instead of bullshit HCR and Internet siezing efforts....

Lets design cell phones that use GPS to detect high speed (say 5 mph+) movement, and then will disable the ability to text????

As an EMS/FF We respond to dozens of call a year that involve texting while driving.

Why can't we focus on important lifesaving matters like these, and less on how to make the working population financially responsible for the accidents/injuries caused by these acts????

It is getting kind of scary driving these days. All the time I see people with their heads down, or their phone held up in front of their face, (I have a truck for a DD -- so it is easy to see) and they are texting while driving. I have had quite a few "lane wanderer" encounters in the past two years or so.

Would have to be over 5 MPH...I jog at about 9 or 10 i believe and can still text pretty well without losing my way.

    Maybe like 20-25?

School zones are the #1 affected area, besides, if you are jogging, at 9-10 mph, you dont need to be texting anyway, you should be watching out for other asshats who arent paying attention to you...

Ummmm....on one you're stationary and actually not moving at all. On the other you're in a public street going 30 MPH with pedestrians to look out for, and you have to know where you're going and see where you're going.

On a stationary bike, it wouldnt make a difference. I think FRE was saying to have a GPS that would calculate how fast you were travelling, as in ACTUALLY travelling, not just how fast your legs are moving

We lived through our entire childhoods without the ability to "text"....

Surely todays brats can survive the ride to school or walmart.

I tell my daughter just about the same thing -- "I was 35 when I bought my first cell phone. If I made it all the way through school without one, so can you." This is when I take it away from her and she tries to argue that she needs to have it.
