now that sounds scary.....in the 20 months that i have had it, this car has been on jackstands for 13 of those months. i dont know if im ready for it to be torn apart again anytime soon.

I'm sure I missed a past build thread on the car or something, but why would you take out a 5.7 ~350hp LS1 for a stock 5.3 ~300hp engine?

You change a few parts over on the 5.3 and it can make 350hp np but it is a valid question. My guess would be he had an issue with the original ls1?????

the ls1 spun a bearing and was high mileage. it would have costed quite a bit to rebuild, so i opted for the 5.3. i scored this engine with 78k miles for $800 with a 6mth warranty. the little difference in power is not too noticable (not by me anyway) not to mention i dont have to run premium gas anymore.

Kinda reminds me of the old SBC in sound.
