famous red car, myth or fact

ok, now ive been trying to think of what color to paint my car since its coming to be about that time. And i have a few choices ive been thinking. Red, blood red, black, or bright forest green.
im leaning toward the bright forest green due to the fact of black and bronze rims and well, the red stands out.
now the main thing is,is it true. does cops really look out for red cars?
anyone here that has a red car.., do you seem to get pulled over alot?

is this fact of myth. im thinking that is just statistics that show more people in red cars speed and get pulled over more, but hey, i an be wrong.
please put your input in. i plan on the green, but the red or blood sparkle red is still in the back of my mind..

not true... the idea comes from back when there wasn't many color options and every one thought that "red" was easier to see...

there is a psychological aspect to it that the color red causees a release of chemicals in the brain that will make you more aggressive...

other than that it's just a crock of shit...

Could also be due to the fact that radar cannot pinpoint a car. So way back in the day when a cop had to use his judgement to decide which car in a group was moving the quickest, the red car stood out from the rest.

If by "do cops notice it," do you mean did the cop roll his window down at the light yesterday and tell me how cool my car was? Then yes... yes it does stand out. :-)

Usually, driving like an idiot will make you stand out more- ask the kid who tried to do a power slide through the intersection in front of us- that also got his attention.

Group of us were flying up a highway north of Denver. 10-12 cars.
Me and a turbo SS were leading because we were likely the fastest two cars at the time. We backed down to 60MPH and hit it....got to 125MPH just before we crested the little hill and buzzed the 2 state troopers.

The red turbo SS got stopped.
A red Corvette Z06 got stopped. (no way it was going the clocked 124)
    I didn't.

    Sadly now demodded :(

I'm gonna guess myth. I have a red Z28 and I've never been pulled over.

I did get busted by a speeding camera but that wasn't because I drive a red car.

My luck I'll get pulled over on the way home...

Well...... I have a red trans am, a red volvo s60r, and a red silverado......... I have been pulled over 6 times in the last 8 years. Usually, I was pulled over for doing something stupid. Not because of the color of my car.

If memory serves, I have only one ticket in a red car. I was doing about 83 in a 45, getting ready to upshift when the Trooper gunned me. Other than that, all my other tickets have been in silver or white vehicles.

I have gotten tickets more in the Volvo than in my Trans Am. Got caught doing 59 in a 35 and "following too close"

I vote myth too. They also say that those who choose green vehicles are somehow 'smarter'. Um, my husbands truck is green. Picked it out himself... I'm not buying that myth either

Well.... Im convinced. Red is no more noticable than any other color. Thats why its the main color in camouflage uniforms of the best combat units all over the world. Blends right in.

If you don't want to blend in, go lime green. Or make your own body kit like the mouth-breathing fuck-tard in the other thread.

Silver has to be the smart color I think. Green has shit for resale. I love the greens available on my style trucks and 4th gen f-bodies though

What Your Car Color Reveals About Your Psyche...

With gas prices nearing $4 per gallon, are there any cheerful drivers left on the road?

Well, if there are, chances are they're driving a green car.

People who own emerald green automobiles
, it turns out, have the most positive attitude about the course of their own lives. Dark blue and silver are other colors chosen by upbeat people.

Red supposedly connotes an aggressive, high-speed personality, while yellow, theoretically, is for folks with sunny dispositions. But survey data show that people who drive red or yellow cars have below-average confidence. And black cars, supposedly a sign of power and elegance, are driven by the most downbeat drivers of all.

The automotive color-coding comes from CNW Marketing Research in Bandon, Ore., which asked nearly 1,900 Americans about their attitudes toward their own lives at several points over the course of a year. CNW also asked each respondent the color of the car they drive most often, which allowed the researchers to develop a kind of color-confidence index. According to CNW, here's what the color of a car says about the person who bought it:

People whose car is: Have confidence that is:

    Emerald green 5.5% above average
    Dark blue 3.2% above average
    Silver 1.2% above average
    White Average
    Sunny yellow 3.7% below average
    Orange 4.1% below average
    Bright blue 5.5% below average
    Bright yellow 8.3% below average
    Red 8.8 % below average
    Black 14.6% below average

Another way to look at the color study...... People with low self esteem and or low self confidence sometimes color their hair really bright colors. They also do strange things to their bodies. They do these things to draw attention to themselves. On the other hand these same types of people sometimes dress in all black including black lipstick and black fingernails. Also to draw attention to themselves. So ultimately the color study means squat.
