    drove a challenger

My friend just bought one. He replaced the clutch in my car and while he was working on my car, he let me take his out for a few hours. I have to say, it's a pretty nice car. It's a heavy pig, but it's still pretty quick. It's comfortable. It felt huge to drive, though I could get used to it. I'd own one. If the new Camaro is a disappointment, I will have to consider a Challenger instead.

Nice deal, he replaces your clutch and you get to drive his ride.

Good question, not really sure. It has a Hemi, it's not the super expensive model, it was only around $38K

I would guess a fairly loaded R/T for that price. And the 5.7 Hemi is pushing 390 HP now I think.

I keep seeing a white R/T running around where I live. That car is sooooo bad ass looking.

I would have guessed an SRT8 in a soft economy for that price. 38K for the RT (however loaded) just seems a bit high to me.

Lots of dealers still mark them up... theres places you can get them for around 30k in the r/t form. Make it 25k and I'd own one. Last I checked gas is as low as it has been in a while. The srt is well over 40k.

That depends on how you define “well over”. According to the dodge website, the MSRP on the 2008 SRT8 Challenger is $40,095 and $42,295 for the 2009. Gas is (relatively) cheap because we are in a soft economy (to put it nicely) and in a soft economy there is not a lot of demand for (perceived) impractical muscle cars. That said I think it would be perfectly reasonable to get the SRT8 for 38k.

Stock for stock, I think the (LS1) fbody would take it.

FYI....the 300/charger/challenger/magnum is based on the last generation Mercedes E class platform. It's a very good platform.

Edmunds tested the Challenger R/T Hemi 5.7L with 6-speed manual. It only ran 14.1 @ 100.8 mph. Ls1 can still take the R/T.

You better buy him a 12pk or his favorite liquor. He sounds like he deserves a few after working underneath an F-body.

They have used 2008 ones on Autotrader already. Most are A5 Automatics. There is One 09 SRT8 M6
They look cool. Still think 2010 Camaro SS is better!!
